Short history of our kennel

I got my first dog, a collie, in 1969. It had two litters and I kept one bitch of the second litter and raised it. Beside Collies we acquired American Cockers, but after 1991 did not get any more of those because of their health problems.

We switched to Cairn terriers, which were small and cheerful and whose hair was easier to care for. In 1993 we acquired our pedigree bitch "Armi", formally CH Leavenworth Wine of Fairyland. Armi has had three litters, from each we kept one bitch: Foxy Merrow, Snow Brilliant and Whirling Pound. They are all champions.

The title of kennel, Sanderfield, was granted to us in 1976.

Despite the small number of dogs -- and we want to keep it that way -- our kennel has been successful. Except for the very youngest ones, our dogs are champions. One bitch of ours has been the Cairn of the year; we have two Junior World Winners; and one bitch of ours has been three times in a row the best bitch at special shows. With our dogs, we have won three times special shows of the Cairn Club or open shows and been BOB- breeders for several times.

In 1997 we bought from Germany a Norfolk terrier, a bitch which has had one litter by now.

We operate both at Kormu (Riihimäki) and in Helsinki. Tessa is keeping the majority of our dogs in an one-family house, and two dogs are staying with me in city.

We were granted the Vuolasvirta award in 2006. We are memberd of Finnish Kennel Club, Cairn Terrier Club, Norfolk & Norwich Club, Terrier Club, SuKoKa (Finninsh Dogbreeders Association), Midland Cairn Clun and Swedish Cairn Club.
